Target audience profile
Our film will be rated as a 15 this is because there will be upsetting scenes, violence and mild drug use unsuitable for anyone younger. There will also be strong language and racism involved that could disturb younger audiences. This information is from the bbfc certification for 15 rated film page.
Also this is an issue if we was to go lower because the prime audience range is between 15-27 this is due to the young actors involved which play a huge role within the film as we are attempting to help and influence younger audiences. The use of drugs will be clear but not seen this is so that our film does not entice younger views to experiment with such actions. We have decided to implement violence and blood within our opening film as we feel this is something this generation will not be as disturbed by, as video games that are played by this generations usually include these features. The racial context we feel will influence younger people to understand that these certain phrases are wrong and people who use them should be punished. We feel as though a older audience will be comfortable with the content in this piece so we kept in segments that would attract them.
When creating our piece we decided to use the uses and gratification theory. This is the idea that the audience want to gain something when watching our production piece. We decided to use the entertainment aspect of this theory, this is where the audience are entertained by our piece and have an element of escapism from everyday traumas and life.
